The Sacrament of Affirmation

Once I was 10 years outdated, I attended a retreat with my class to my trainer’s dwelling on the lake.

I keep in mind the steep driveway, the open-concept home with a railing overlooking the dwelling space. It was a good looking dwelling and the right setting for a retreat.

The retreat was to arrange us college students for our upcoming Sacrament of Affirmation.

Affirmation is the place one receives the items of the Holy Spirit and confirms the guarantees made on our behalf at baptism. The phrase itself means strengthening or deepening of the connection with Christ.

At this retreat, I created a “Confirmation Logbook”. In it, I’d written out scriptures, songs, particulars about my baptism in 1968, the seven items of the Holy Spirit, and a web page devoted to my mother, whom I picked as my “real spirit person”.

“May 22, My mother is my real spirit person because she is very helpful. She understands all kinds of situations. She prays for people and is always happy and joyful. She cares if anything is wrong. She is loving of everyone and she always talks well about a person.”

I'd have been in grade 5 with Mrs. Bruce (my favourite trainer).

My mother is the right instance of agape love…wanting the very best for others.

On my drive to work, I go by what I consider was Mrs. Bruce’s dwelling on the lake. I’m undecided if she nonetheless lives there however seeing her dwelling nonetheless brings a smile to my face.
