‘What’s in Estero Bay’
The Estero Bay Basin is the topic of Calusa Waterkeeper’s State of Our Water quarterly meeting held on Saturday, Oct. 12. A popular area for paddlers and boaters, Estero Bay spans 359.6 square miles and is the state's first aquatic preserve and is located within Calusa Waterkeeper’s 1000 sq. mile jurisdiction. Keynote speaker Bonita Water Steward Nicole Weigold will talk about “What’s in the Bay” including current water conditions, its impact on the ecosystem and public health and the “fascinating projects that are underway to protect and restore the area.” Calusa Waterkeeper Captain Codty Pierce will open the meeting, providing a presentation on the current state of the water, followed by reports by each Zone Ranger Leader who will discuss the conditions around the watershed. ‘Art @ City Hall’ hosts exhibit featuring ‘Light and Dark’
The City of Marco Island recently announced a new art display at City Hall featuring local artists and “Light and Dark” as the latest theme. The city will host a free open house from 4:30 until 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15, for the public to view the current art exhibit. The artists who contributed to the current exhibit include Mark Pederson, Adorable Monique, Karen Swanker, JoAnn Sanborn, Carol Burton, JoAnn Brandau, James Robellard, Joseph Parisi, Barbara Parisi, Nancy Norman, Lynn David Nathanson, Myriam Kriec, and Judith Chinski. Fall NABA Butterfly Count

Paul Arsenault: ‘Reflections of South Florida’
As part of its 30th anniversary, the Marco Island Historical Society continues to celebrate with a “very special” 50-year retrospective exhibit of paintings and mosaics by Naples-based, nationally known artist Paul Arsenault. The exhibit opens Tuesday (Oct. 1) and continues through Feb. 15, at the Marco Island Historical Museum. The exhibit, “Reflections of South Florida: A 50-Year Art Adventure,” “conveys the history, soul-stirring beauty and charm” of Marco Island, Goodland and Naples as well as other South Florida locales, including Vero Beach, Key West, Cortez and others. 6th Annual Rookery Bay Classic Car Show seeks vehicles
The 6th annual Rookery Bay Classic Car Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, at Florida SouthWestern State College, 7505 Grand Lely Drive, Naples. The event will have more than 100 cars representing everything from pre-1930s antiques, icons from the ‘30s, ‘40s and ‘50s, muscle cars from the ‘60s/’70s and exotic/high performance race cars from yesterday and today.
