NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Saints legend Steve Gleason posted a message of gratitude from his hospital bed Saturday evening (Sept. 14), calling members of his care workforce “heroes” for getting him to Ochsner for emergency remedy Wednesday throughout Hurricane Francine.
“Through adversity, we find our Heroes,” Gleason posted on X. “Some of our care crew have been with me since 2011. They’ve been with us through the darkness and the light. They were with me in the ambulance Wednesday as we navigated the precipice. They changed their daily schedules to stay with me at the hospital, and because of their service, I am the luckiest man on the face of the earth. Infinite Gratitude & Love.”

Gleason, 47, was recognized in 2011 with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a terminal neurodegenerative illness that causes progressive lack of muscle management and response. There isn't any recognized treatment.
Neither Gleason nor his workforce has offered particulars of Wednesday’s medical emergency, nor stated how lengthy he's anticipated to stay hospitalized.
