Transformation of the Day: Kendra lost 115 pounds. She embraced a healthier lifestyle to improve her fertility and help her deal with Graves’ disease. She told us about her workout routine and how her eating style changed during her journey from low-carb to pescatarian. Weight loss surgery is also part of her journey.

What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation is to live a healthier lifestyle and make changes to help with fertility. I have Graves’ disease, and it can cause hormone imbalance. I do not want my weight to further hinder my goal of having a family with my husband. On the days that I struggle, I just think about my end goal, and I continue working out and writing my ongoing books.

How did you change your eating habits?
In the beginning, I started with no carbs, intermittent fasting, small portions, and no dairy. As the weight slowly came off, I adopted a low-carb lifestyle (with dairy but in small quantities). Recently, I have started to enjoy a Pescatarian lifestyle, and I’ve seen a lot more results without meat.

What did your workout routine consist of? How many days a week did you work out?
My workout routine is seven days a week. During the week, I go to the gym and do 40 minutes of cardio and 20-30 mins of strength training. My spouse and I take long walks on different trails in our area on the weekend.

What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 435 pounds, and my current weight is 320 pounds.

What is your height?
Height: 5’6″

When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey after my engagement photos due to the pictures. I was shocked about my appearance and knew it was time to change. Even though I was happy about the pictures overall, I knew it was time for a healthier me and a healthier future. So I decided to get weight loss surgery in October 2021 due to slow weight loss progress.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far? What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
The biggest lessons and advice to anyone on this tough journey: Trust the process, stay consistent and choose the best support system. Most important, it is okay to slip up and give in but always get back on your wagon to your goal.
