Judge orders temporary hold on Tiffany Henyard’s appointments, mandates board approval | Politics

DOLTON, Ill. – A Cook County choose has issued a temporary restraining order blocking three of Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard's high appointees from taking workplace.

Judge Thaddeus Wilson dominated Wednesday night that Henyard didn't have the authorized authority to nominate a brand new police chief, village administrator and village legal professional with out the approval of the Dolton Village Board. 

Four trustees against Henyard requested the temporary restraining order, arguing that these appointments should be authorized by trustees below the legislation.

The choose agreed, stating, “The mayor has to follow the law and can't make appointments from her house.”

Attorney Burt Odelson, who represents the four trustees, shared the latest in the case on Thursday afternoon: 

“It's a giant step for the trustees and the folks as a result of the final couple weeks have been pure chaos. Her alleged appointees have conflicted with the true folks in management, just like the administrator, Mr. Freeman, just like the commanders on the police division…,” Odelson said. “I used to be knowledgeable by a commander that Mayor Henyard known as and stated that Mr. Burge, her appointee, can be again and he nonetheless is in management and he or she's not listening to any courtroom order.”
