Lake City misplaced one other participant to harm and went 0-3 on Saturday to complete 1-4 at the Rocky Mountain event.
The Timberwolves fell to Boise 25-23, 25-14, 25-20, then misplaced to Melba 23-25, 25-15, 28-30, 25-12, 16-14 to complete 1-3 in pool play. In a crossover finale, Lake City misplaced to Centennial 25-13, 25-16, 27-25.
Taylor Winey had 65 assists, 17 digs, six aces and 4 kills on the day for Lake City (16-10). Jess Wilson totaled 33 kills, 23 digs and 5 aces, Lola Jeanselme 34 digs and 6 aces, Camryn Woodman 18 kills and three aces.
“It wasn’t the outcome we envisioned for the weekend but the scores don’t come close to reflecting our mettle,” Lake City coach Michelle Kleinberg stated. “After a season-ending injury to a starter (libero Daphne Neeley, knee) on Friday, we had another starter (setter Kate Moglia) go down on the first point of the morning today, and yet we still refused to give up.”
Jeanselme moved to libero when Neeley acquired damage. Kleinberg stated juniors Miranda FitzSimmons and Sofia Peressini, and sophomore Macey Yancey stepped up off the bench for the Timberwolves.
“I’ve never coached a team that’s had to face so much adversity in one season,” Kleinberg stated. “I’m so proud of them for being willing to trust the process, come off the bench into any role, and fight for the growth they want to see in themselves ahead of the district playoffs. It took a lot of maturity to accept that we might not get the reward of winning today, but that the fight was worth it regardless of the outcome.”
Kleinberg is hopeful Moglia (ankle) shall be again on Thursday, when Lake City performs host to Post Falls.

POST FALLS — Vanessa Kison totaled 12 kills, 17 digs and two blocks as the Trojans swept the Bears 25-13, 25-22, 26-24 in nonleague play at The Arena.
Trinity Byrne had 13 kills for Post Falls (14-8). Claire Ziegler added 14 assists and two aces, Lucy Carr 18 assists, Kaela Gump three blocks, Lexi Norisada 15 digs.
“We played one of our most complete matches of the year today,” Post Falls coach Matt Barkley stated. “Our girls were dialed in from the opening serve and didn’t let up. CV made runs at us in the second and third set. They even had a five-point lead midway through the third set and we kept chipping away. We stayed poised and didn’t panic when we were pressured.”
For Central Valley (4-8), Keilee Eskelsen had 12 kills, Elliana Roullier 15 assists and 4 blocks, Campbell Lathan 4 aces, Maddy Joswick 14 digs).

ST. MARIES — Moscow defeated Bonners Ferry 24-26, 22-25, 25-22, 25-23, 16-14 and downed St. Maries 23-25, 25-14, 25-23, 25-16 as a part of a tri-match.
In the first match of the day, Bonners Ferry defeated St. Maries 25-10, 25-11, 25-16.
In that match, Meijah Yearout had 5 kills and a block for St. Maries. Mia Asbury had 4 kills and 5 assists, Brenna Elliott 5 assists and 7 digs, Emma Tefft three aces, Allie Zook eight digs.
In the match towards Moscow, Raevyn Yearout had seven kills, two blocks and 4 aces for St. Maries (6-15). Asbury added 5 kills, 10 assists, two blocks and eight digs, Elliott 10 assists, Zook 10 digs.

“I'm really proud of how this team has taken ownership over their ability to get teams out-of-system off the bat,” Clark Fork coach Lyndsie Kiebert-Carey stated.

“We started slow today in the first set, and were caught off guard multiple times by Kellogg,” Genesis Prep coach Paula Thurston said. “Thankfully, we started to wake up in the second set and play our game. As a team, we had 21 aces in the match. When our serving and passing is on, we play a really solid game. I think we proved that in the third set.”

SANDPOINT — Sophomore striker Reese Crawford recorded a hat trick for the Timberwolves, which built a 3-0 halftime lead on the way to a nonleague win over the Bulldogs at War Memorial Field.
“Our boys played a complete game against a well-coached and determined team,” Lake City coach Chaz Donovan said. “Every player received significant time on the field and demonstrated incredible teamwork and selflessness. Reese had a complete game for us as well. The way we have come together as a team and played unselfishly highlights our growth and showcases what we are truly capable of achieving.”

RATHDRUM — While not quite 100% yet, Hawks senior Haidyn Jonas was just enough to make something happen on Saturday.
Jonas, who joined the team recently after recovering from a knee injury, scored on a 30-yard free kick in the 72nd minute for the Hawks, who played to a draw with the Bears in Inland Empire League play at Sunrise Rotary Field.
Lakeland (3-6-5, 1-5-4 IEL) needed a win or tie to earn the fourth seed and host fifth-seeded Lewiston (2-9-3, 1-6-3) in a loser-out match in the 5A Region 1 tournament on Tuesday.
“We moved (defender) Asher Drake out of the back line and to the front line, and it was a big difference today,” Lakeland coach Nick Haynes said. “We had nothing to lose, so we just went for it.”
Jonas played at Timberlake as a junior, then transferred to Lakeland and was cleared to play three games ago.
“He’s still getting into game shape,” Haynes said. “It’s hard to jump right in after being out and then only getting 10 practices. His free kick, it was beautiful and he bent it around the keeper. He definitely gives us another weapon up front and some skill we were missing.”
