Gavin Stone's Season as a Dodgers Pitcher Comes to an End

The Dodgers are not delaying the inevitable: Gavin Stone’s season is over.

Stone was transferred from the 15-day injured listing to the 60-day IL on Tuesday so as to clear a 40-man roster spot for Edgardo Henriquez.

Stone, 25, was in line to obtain Rookie of the Year votes after being the Dodgers’ most dependable beginning pitcher for the primary 5 months of the season. In his first full main league season, Stone went 11-5 with a 3.53 ERA in 25 begins throughout 140.1 innings. He struck out 116 batters and allowed a 1.211 WHIP.

However, the Dodgers positioned Stone on the 15-day IL on Sept. 6 with proper shoulder irritation. Manager Dave Roberts told reporters final Wednesday in Miami that he was “very unlikely” to return from the injured listing, as he had been unable to throw to that time in his rehab.

Henriquez is a hard-throwing reliever who will strive to full an already outstanding season by forcing his approach into the Dodgers’ postseason pitching plans.

The 22-year-old right-hander started the season at low-A Rancho Cucamonga and was promoted from to the Class-A Great Lake Loons in May. A month later, he was promoted to the Double-A Tulsa Drillers, the place he performed till his Triple-A promotion in August.

Henriquez went 1-0 with a 2.84 ERA in 14 video games at Triple-A Oklahoma City, placing out 18 batters and strolling 10 in 12.2 innings.

With the chance to give Henriquez a look, and Stone displaying no indicators of being prepared to pitch anytime quickly, the Dodgers’ newest roster transfer made excellent sense. The anticipated conclusion to Stone’s season remains to be disappointing. The Dodgers will ostensibly look forward to his wholesome return in 2025.
